Jade Alex is a disciplined actor, singer and director raised in the Blue Mountains, NSW. She graduated from the Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts with a Bachelor of Performance. With over 10 years of acting training through NIDA short courses and continuous Acting/Movement workshops, she refined her skills as a director under mentor Helmut Bakaitis as well as observing director Damien Ryan in the rehearsal room during her placement program. In 2013 Jade devised and directed her own work: “The Butterfly and the Black Dog”, first performed at the Pilgrim Theatre, then later at ICE (Information and Cultural Exchange) in Parramatta as a fundraiser for The Black Dog Institute.
With a passion for physical theatre and Theatre In Education, Jade teamed up with Blue Theatre Company to direct the coming of age story “Akio!” Written by Matt De Haas and performed at Hayes Theatre Co in 2015, Akio! pays homage to Japanese popular culture with a combination of humor and playfulness to be enjoyed by all ages. The show was met with wonderful acclaim and fantastic reviews!
Jade's acting works include Nina in “The Seagull”, Mary Contrary in “Mother Goose” Eva Jackson in “The Rimers of Eldritch”, Nell Gwyn in “Playhouse Creatures” and sexy Irina in “Chekhov In Hell”. She is also active in the film industry, having played Vicky in a feature film “Memories of Michael” and Wendy for Orkward Pictures’ “State of Affairs”, amongst several other short films.
